About the Yorkshire Terriers
The team started in 1997 when seven Yorkshire-based members of the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN) got together to play our first game against Village Manchester FC at Attercliffe, Sheffield.

Later that year we competed in the GFSN National 5-a-side Tournament; but our lack of experience resulted in us coming second last, as we also did in 1998. 1999 saw a rapid improvement with more formalised training and the acquisition of a larger squad. We came second in the 1999 and 2001 GFSN tournaments and were semi-finalists in 2000, receiving a "player of the tournament" award in each of those two years.

Most recently, we have branched out into the 11-a-side game. We ended the inaugural season of the GFSN National League in third place and in the 2003/04 season went on to take the title. This exciting competition has seen us play home and away against gay teams from London, Leicester, Brighton and Bristol and forge friendships across the country.

We currently have a kit sponsorship deal with The Cooperative Bank which helped us purchase our smart Nike green kit. Other offers of sponsorship for the club or assistance with publicity and coaching would be warmly welcomed.

In order to help manage the Terriers we have an elected committee and a written constitution.
